The Venus Restaurants History
The Venus Restaurant is a Listed Building dating back to the 1700’s and was previously known as Church Farm. Prior to the 1900’s Dinnington was primarily a farming community.
Falcon Square previously contained 6 farms within 100 yards of each other, but whilst many of the old farm buildings still exist the actual farms have all gone. Besides the Church Farm house, which is now Venus Restaurant, the dairy still exists and the farm buildings were turned into a garage in the 1950’s.
The last person to use the farm was Robert Fisher who moved to continue farming at Throapham. Church Farm, along with other farms in the square which were all part of the Athorpe Estate, were sold off in January 1935.
